CAATevents - promoting animal-free science for our future
We create events with scientists in industry, government, academia, and other stakeholders to replace animals with non-animal methods, reduce the number of animals necessary, or refine methods to make them less painful or stressful to the animals involved.
We are a not-for-profit created by Thomas Hartung, MD PhD, to support the work of the Centers for Alternatives to Animal Testing (CAAT) in the US at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and in Europe as a joint venture with the University of Konstanz, Germany. Any surplus is being used to promote the work of the centers. In case CAATevents is dissolved, all assets will go to CAAT'-Europe.
CAAT’s Mission:
Promote Ethical Research: We work tirelessly to reduce and replace animal testing in scientific research.
Drive Innovation: By supporting the validation of alternative methods, we ensure safer, more humane approaches to product safety testing.
Empower Education: We advocate integrating alternative testing methods into educational curricula.
